This South20 unique Acapu hardwood-flooring product originates from the rain forest areas of Brazil and Guyana. It is common for the Acapu tree to reach to 100 at in height with trunk diameters of 2.5 to 3 . The wood product is produced by local natives specifically for South20 from the Acapu tree that is native to these areas. South20 receives the material to the US in the form of raw cut lumber where it is placed in storage for air drying and kiln drying process. South20 will mill the lumber to specified dimensions to produce hardwood flooring and decking products.

General Characteristics:
The Acapu product's Heartwood is a dark yellowish brown; dark brown to reddish brown figured with line light parenchyma|ma lines. Its sapwood is distinct, yellowish cream colored. The texture is tine to mediate.

Drying and Shrinkage:
This Acapu Wood is rated moderately difficult to dry or season; must be handled with care and slowly; initial air seasoning recommended to reduce the time of drying. Kiln schedule similar to T7-B3 is suggested for 4/4 to 6/4 stock.
Reported to hold its place well after manufacture. Risks of distortion and checking are slight. Heartwood quite resistant to moisture absorption.
Working Properties:
The Acapu Wood is easy to moderately difficult to work and gnashes smoothly. Pre-boring is helpful for nailing. It is moderately easy to glue with care and finish satisfactorily. Clear oil works best to bring out color and longevity.
Durability:
This Acapu product is very durable as rated by field exposure trials. Heartwood is also rated resistant to very resistant to attack by decay magi and termites. The product is resistant to water.
